Anyone who is involved in carrying out or designing domestic electrical installations in England and Wales. Successful candidates will gain a nationally recognised qualification.

Whilst the course has no formal entry requirements, we do recommend that delegates who wish to attend this course should consider undertaking a 17th edition qualification.

Please note: This course is only applicable to the Building Regulations in England and Wales.

Any person who needs to prove that they have the necessary underpinning knowledge of the 18th Edition of the Wiring Regulations in the electrical industry, will be required to show evidence by way of having a thorough understanding and an awareness of all the requirements of the Wiring Regulations, and that is achieved by holding the City and Guilds 2382-18 certificate

To be accepted onto attendance of this course, candidates MUST provide verifiable evidence of having achieved City & Guilds 2382-15 (or equivalent qualification relating to BS 7671: 2015 - including Amendment 3) before the course; this may be by providing the certificate, or enrolment number if undertaken previously with us

The course is aimed at practising electricians, who have already been carrying out the process of periodic Inspection (including inspection, testing and condition reporting) as per the requirements of BS 7671 and require a formal, recognised qualification.

As this course deals with the application of knowledge involved with the inspection and testing of electrical installations, it is anticipated that candidates who wish to undertake this course should have some electrical experience in inspection and testing of electrical installations; preferably participation in the process of initial verification and/or periodic inspection and testing.

This course suitable for datacomms engineers looking to prove their installation skills and professionalism. It is particularly applicable to individuals, for example, electricians and telecomms engineers who wish to increase and broaden their range of skills.

This City & Guilds 3667-02: 104 course is the recognised qualification for professional datacomms cabling and structured cabling installers and is on the newly established UKs qualifications framework

The course is aimed at practising electricians, who have already been carrying out the process of Initial Verification (including inspection, testing and certification) as per the requirements of BS 7671 and require a formal, recognised qualification.

It is however important to note that this course (and more importantly, the syllabus) anticipate that candidates have an understanding of electrical theory - including the effects of resistances on cables, common electrical equations, etc., and how to work safely in accordance with the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.

As this course deals with the application of knowledge involved with the inspection and testing of electrical installations, it is anticipated that candidates who wish to undertake this course should have some electrical experience in inspection and testing of electrical installations - preferably participation in the process of initial verification and/or periodic inspection and testing.

The Basic Principles of Communications Cabling City and Guilds 3667-02: 101 course is aimed at anyone who is thinking of entering into the communications cabling installation industry.

It also forms part of the newly designated training government led initiatives to increase the skills and underpinning knowledge of candidates who feel they have gaps in their basic knowledge of applying communications technology.

Anyone who is seeking to be trained and acquire the practical skills to undertake initial verification as described in part 6, chapter 61 of BS7671:2008 the 17th edition of the wiring regulations. City and Guilds 2392-10 is an excellent preparation for delegates who are considering undertaking the challenges offered by the qualification, Level 3 Certificate in Inspection, Testing & Certification of Electrical Installations.

City and Guilds 2392-10 is particularly beneficial for electricians who are about to undertake external assessments for the purposes of Part P registration by a competent person’s scheme assessor, or for the assessment by the NICEIC’s inspecting engineer’s and any other organisations who are responsible for assessing competencies of applicants that are enrolled within a nationally recognised competent person’s scheme.

The course is ideally suited for data comms cabling installers and network cabling technicians who have some previous experience in installing data cabling, but are wishing to seek new skills and opportunities or are possibly required, as part of an expanding role, to possess a nationally recognised qualification.

City & Guilds 3667-02:102/103 demonstrates, that delegates that they have been thoroughly assessed and can confidently install, terminate and test fibre optic cabling, both for premises fibre networks and external telco networks.

This fast-paced course is aimed at highly-experienced, practising electrical inspectors, including electricians, who have already been carrying out the processes of Initial verification and Periodic Inspection (including inspection, testing and condition reporting) as per the requirements of BS 7671 and require a formal, recognised qualification.

It is important to note that this course (and more importantly, the syllabus) anticipate that candidates have an understanding of electrical theory - including the effects of resistances on cables, common electrical equations, etc., and how to work safely in accordance with the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.

Anyone who is involved in carrying out the practical tests on electrical equipment. Successful candidates will gain a nationally recognised qualification.

Although there are no pre entry requirements to attend this course, we do recommend that you should have prior knowledge of basic electrical theory and electrical principles together with a basic understanding of electrical definitions and terminologies.

Any individuals involved in electrical installations - whether they are in the domestic, industrial or commercial sector of the electrical installation industry.

Successful candidates will gain the nationally recognised qualification for the 18th Edition of the Wring Regulations - City and Guilds 2382-18.

Although there are no pre-entry requirements to attend this course, we strongly recommend that prospective candidates have prior personal knowledge of electrical theory and terminologies, together with a basic understanding of electrical installation principles and circuits

A Level 2 NVQ Certificate or Diploma in Interior Systems is official recognition of the knowledge and skills needed to work in this area of the construction field.

This qualification is aimed at learners aged 16 and above who work or want to work in the construction industry and specialise in the area of interior systems.

They are available for both operators and supervisors.

These qualifications provide routes to registration or re-registration on the Street Works Qualifications Register (SWQR) required under the New Roads and Streetworks Act 1991. Re-registration is required every 5 years.

These qualifications are for those employed in carrying out and monitoring works on the highway and cover a range of skills from those who need to safeguard their work by signing lighting and guarding to carrying out excavation and re-instatement work. This qualification is for candidates who work or want to work in the tunnelling industry during tunnel construction activities.

This qualification is for anyone working in or entering a tunnel. For some roles Confined Spaces qualifications 6150 might be more appropriate

There are no formal entry requirements for the NVQ Level 3 in Occupational Health and Safety Practice; however candidates must be in a role that allows them to collect evidence which meets the requirements of City & Guilds.

This level is ideal if your job involves health and safety and you have experience of developing and applying policy and procedures within your organisation.

The Level 3 Award in Education and Training is not a teaching qualification - it is an introduction to teaching that will give an insight into the roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training, how to plan and deliver inclusive teaching / training sessions and how to assess and give constructive and developmental feedback.

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, but candidates must be considering a subject for delivery and be aiming to achieve / or have achieved a qualification and/or have experience in their subject/skill at the appropriate level.

In addition, the nature of both the learning and assessment required for the qualification is such that candidates should have the ability to manage the requirements of the level of the qualification they are taking, read and interpret written tasks, and write answers in a legible and understandable form. Evidence of this should be recorded as part of their initial assessment. Candidates will also need to be able to organise written information clearly and coherently.

All candidates should undertake an initial assessment of skills in English, mathematics and ICT. They should record their development needs and, where applicable, agree an action plan to address them. If candidates undertake this qualification having already undertaken an initial assessment of English, mathematics and ICT skills, the record of their development needs and any previous action plan to address them should be reviewed and updated as required.

Age restrictions

This qualification is not approved for anyone under 19 years old.

This course is aimed at anyone working in medium risk confined spaces such as sewers, vessels, tanks and chambers, who need to enter and possibly disconnect and traverse away from the winch system. The course is competence based and requires delegates to show a sound understanding of safe working practices and emergency arrangements including the use of a variety of entry and safety equipment.

This course is aimed at anyone working in high risk confined spaces such as sewers, vessels, tanks and chambers, who need to use full respiratory protection such as self-contained breathing apparatus or breathing apparatus airlines due to an irrespirable environment.

Those who work in or want to work in a confined space rescue team would find this course beneficial for their ability to carry out the tasks set out in their job role. Also, people who have other confined space job roles would benefit from studying this training course.

From January 1 2019, it will be a requirement that all electrical installations designed after this date comply with BS 7671:2018, 18th Edition.

The 18th edition course is aimed at practicing electricians, electrical contractors and those who require to have a good working knowledge of BS 7671. The aim of this 3 day electrical training course is to gain familiarity with the layout, content and application of the BS 7671: 2018 18th Edition Regulations. It is intended to ensure that on completion of this course, individuals are conversant with the format, content and the application of the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671: 2018 18th Edition Regulations.

If you have passed your 17th edition (C&G 2382-15) since the last amendment was published then you can take this shorter 1 day 18th edition update course.

Please be aware that there is no ‘short exam’ to update your 17th Edition to 18th Edition - you will still be required to sit the full 60 question, 2 hour exam.

Those who work in Medium Risk confined spaces:

Medium risk confined spaces exist where there is a realistic expectation of encountering a specified risk or the possible introduction of a specified risk during the work activity.

It will also not be possible to have a person permanently attached to a safety line and is usually a team entry which moves away from the entry point (e.g. man entry sewers, utility service, subway tunnels, tanks, chambers, aqueducts and complex wet wells).

Delegates must be 18 years old to attend this course.

Those who work in Medium Risk confined spaces and have already achieved this award:

A 1 day training course for persons who enter low risk confined spaces incorporating entry requirements and self-rescue procedures. It is for persons who may need to demonstrate confined spaces risk assessment qualifications towards competence in such a confined space entry.

The City and Guilds NVQ Level 5 in Occupational Health and Safety Practice qualification is for learners who wish to develop their skills and knowledge in managing health and safety for the workplace.

They will have an autonomous role in their organisation for managing health and safety policy and practice.

They will report direct to or be part of the senior management team.

They will recommend and implement changes relevant to their role.

They will be aware of cost implications and budgetary control.

As the NVQ Diploma Level 5 in Occupational Health and Safety Practice is work-based, and involves the collection of evidence from your normal day-to-day activities, candidates must be in a job role that allows them to collect and provide this. This will probably be individuals who have already acquired some experience, and candidates must be in a health and safety managerial position, where they are able to influence the policy and practice of their organisation.
