First Aid Awards (FAA) is an awarding organisation specialising in First Aid and Health & Safety related qualifications, our founders possess many years experience as one of the UKs leading independent first aid training organisations. FAA - Award in Basic Life Support and AED

Ideal for:

Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) are becoming more widely available in public areas and workplaces and the survival rate for casualties suffering cardiac arrest dramatically increases if an AED is available and there are qualified personnel to use it.

The qualification is primarily for learners who have a responsibility at work or are involved in voluntary and community activities having access to an AED.

The learner will gain the knowledge and skills to be able to recognise and treat someone who has suffered cardiac arrest and to respond quickly, calmly and confidently.

FAA - Award in Emergency First Aid at Work

Ideal for:

Where a workplace first aid risk assessment identifies a need for an Emergency First Aider in the Workplace, this one-day qualification meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982. The learner will attain knowledge and practical competences required to deal with a range of workplace first aid situations.

The FAA Emergency First Aid at Work qualification is unit 1 of the three-day FAA First Aid at Work qualification. From gaining this qualification learners could progress to completing unit 2 and being awarded the FAA First Aid at Work qualification.

FAA - Award in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and AED

Ideal for:

Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) are now becoming more common throughout a range of public and work places. A casualtys survival rate will dramatically increase if an AED is available and if you have appropriately qualified personnel to use it.

This very practical course will enable your learners to use the AED competently and with confidence.

Not only does this course deal with the use of an AED but it also includes vital training in resuscitation and choking procedures.

The qualification is valid for 3 years and all learners will be assessed for their practical skills as well as their knowledge in the form of a multiple choice question paper.

FAA - Award in Fire Safety

Ideal for:

The qualification is suitable for a learner who has responsibility in the workplace to undertake fire safety requirements and will provide learners with the knowledge to carry out designated duties as a Fire Warden/Marshall. The qualification will also increase fire safety awareness for all employees.

The qualification covers fire hazards, risk assessment, control of fire in the workplace and duties of both employers and employees.

FAA - Award in First Aid Risk Assessment-Principles and Practice

Ideal for:

The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 require employers to provide adequate and appropriate equipment, facilities and trained first aid personnel. A risk assessment of first aid needs determines the workplace requirements

This qualification enables learners to gain the knowledge to produce a risk assessment of first aid needs for a workplace ensuring that all HSE requirements are being met.

FAA - Forestry First Aid

Ideal for:

The qualification has been designed to provide the knowledge and competence for a learner to deal with emergency first aid situations in a forestry/agricultural environment.

The FAA Level 3 Award in Forestry First Aid (+F), is designed to accompany a suitable First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work qualification to enable a learner to meet the requirements of the Forestry Commission First Aid at Work Policy. Learners must hold a First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work qualification before attending this course.

If learners need to satisfy the requirements of the Forestry Commission, information regarding acceptable first aid qualifications can be found in The Forestry Commission First Aid at Work Policy for those that work on our land.

FAA - Award in Paediatric First Aid

Ideal for:

The qualification is designed for learners with a responsibility for the care of children and babies on a professional level. The purpose of the qualification is for the learner to attain the knowledge and practical competence required to deal with a range of paediatric first aid situations.

Ofsted and the Early Years Foundation Stage

This two-day 12 hour qualification fulfils the requirements for first aid training detailed in the Department for Educations statutory framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage.

FAA - Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid

Ideal for:

The qualification is designed for learners with a responsibility for the care of children and babies and provides knowledge and skills to deal with a range of paediatric first aid conditions and incidents.

The FAA Emergency Paediatric First Aid qualification is unit 1 of the two-day FAA Paediatric First Aid qualification. From gaining this emergency paediatric first aid qualification learners could progress to completing unit 2 and being awarded the 2-day FAA Award in Paediatric First Aid.

FAA - Award in First Aid at Work

Ideal for:

Where a workplace risk assessment of first aid needs identifies a requirement for a First Aider in the Workplace, this three-day qualification meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982.

The learner will attain knowledge and practical competences required to deal with a range of workplace first aid situations.

FAA - Award in First Aid at Work Refresher

Ideal for:

The HSE guidance states that on expiry of their qualification a First Aider is no longer considered competent to act as a First Aider in the workplace. It is advisable to arrange requalification before expiry to ensure that a workplace is not left with a shortfall of qualified First Aiders.

To requalify for the First Aid at Work qualification, learners can attend a shortened 12 hour 2-day requalification course but must meet the conditions stated in the table below.

FAW qualification is in date or not expired by more than 1 month
FAW qualification is expired by more than 1 month but not longer than 3 months
FAW qualification is expired by more than 3 months

Can attend a 2-day FAW requalification course.
To be eligible for the 2-day requalification course learners will need to evidence to the training provider that they are suitably experienced. Experience can be evidenced by having held multiple FAW qualifications, attending annual refresher training, being an active First Aider, etc. Evidence should include a letter from their employer if relevant.
The Centre must retain evidence.
Not eligible to attend the 2-day FAW requalification course. Must attend a full 3-day FAW course.

In all instances, learners must provide a copy of their previous regulated First Aid at Work certificate.

Ideal for:

This 6-hour qualification provides learners with the knowledge to recognise a range of mental health conditions, how to start a supportive conversation and when and how to signpost a person to seek appropriate professional help. Learners will know how to recognise and manage stress and understand the impact of substance abuse. They will learn about the first aid action plan for mental health, be able to put it in place and know how to implement a positive mental health culture in the workplace.
