The QA Level 3 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification specifically designed for those seeking a career in the emergency services, ambulance service, the event and security medical sector or those who work in high risk workplaces.

The requalification is a 3 day course to refresh your skills and revalidate the original qualification.

It is also used for people who have previous experience and qualifications to convert over to the FREC suite with Recognised Prior Learning (RPL). You should hold an in date FPOSi or equivalent.

What subjects does the Qualsafe - QA Level 3 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care-Requalification course cover?

This qualification comprises 3 mandatory units with a Total Qualification Time (TQT) of 150 hours. Full details of these are in Appendix 1. Learners must complete all assessments/skills tests in the units successfully within the registration period to achieve the qualification.

The minimum time to complete this qualification is 3 weeks and the maximum is 20 weeks. Each credit is equivalent to 10 hours learning time. Learning time consists of guided learning hours (GLH) and self-directed study. GLH are a measure of the contact time a typical Learner will require in direct guidance from a Trainer to complete their programme of learning successfully, which for this qualification should be a minimum of 35 hours over 5 days (excluding breaks). Sessions should be a minimum of 2 hours. Learners should be encouraged to do a minimum of 118 hours of self-directed study, which should include additional reading and applied practice

Over a 5 day period, Learners will gain the knowledge, skills and competencies needed to deal with a range of Prehospital care emergencies, such as: managing a patients airways, catastrophic bleeding, management of fractures, medical emergencies and more.

13 x Practical assessments, 3 x Theory assessments (Multiple Choice Question Papers), 4 x Skills tests and continuous formative assessment conducted throughout the course.
