What is the Qualsafe - QA Forestry First Aid F course?

This Qualsafe Awards Recognised qualification has been designed to provide Learners with the knowledge and skills needed to deal with emergency first aid situations in a forestry/agricultural context.

This short, yet informative course provides Learners with the knowledge and practical competencies needed for the treatment of injuries and diseases that could occur whilst working in a forestry/agricultural specific environment. Topics covered are: extreme hot and cold temperatures, managing catastrophic bleeding, crush injuries and Lyme disease.

The QA Forestry First Aid +F (QAR) qualification is intended to be delivered in conjunction with a regulated first aid qualification (minimum of 1 day) and will confirm the Learners abilities to meet a licence to practice as determined by the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the recommendations in the First Aid at Work - Forestry Commission Policy.

Who is the Qualsafe - QA Forestry First Aid F course designed for?

The Forestry First Aid +F (QAR) qualification is ideal for those that work or intend to work in a forestry, agricultural or remote environment, such as tree surgeons and farmers.

Learners must:

Be at least 14 years old on the first day of the training

Hold or be working towards either a regulated first aid qualification (minimum 1 day course), prior to certification

There are no other formal entry requirements but to benefit from the learning we advise that Learners have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy or numeracy or equivalent.

Other course requirements:

Due to the practical nature of this course, Learners should wear appropriate clothing and footwear, e.g. trousers and flat footwear.

What subjects does the Qualsafe - QA Forestry First Aid F course cover?

This qualification comprises 1 mandatory unit with a qualification time of 2 hours. Full details of this are in Appendix 1

Learners must complete all assessments in the unit successfully within the registration period to achieve the qualification. The maximum period to achieve this qualification, including any referrals is 4 weeks.

How is the Qualsafe - QA Forestry First Aid F course assessed?

1 x Practical assessment,

1 x Theory assessment and continuous formative assessments conducted throughout the course.
