The objective of the Highfield Level 2 Award in the Principles of Fire Safety (RQF) qualification is to support those involved in the management of fire safety within the workplace. This includes managers, supervisors, team leaders, fire wardens (marshals) and staff working in any area where there is a potential risk of fire

Learners gaining this qualification will know that fire safety is the responsibility of everyone in the workplace and will recognise the causes of fire and common hazards. They will know the steps within a fire risk assessment and how to reduce the likelihood of fires.

The Highfield Level 2 Award in the Principles of Fire Safety (RQF) qualification is aimed at anyone involved in the management of fire safety in any workplace. This includes managers, supervisors, team leaders, fire wardens (marshals) and staff working in any area where there is a potential risk of fire.

Learners gaining this qualification will know that fire safety is the responsibility of everyone in the workplace and will recognise the consequences of fire in any premises.

These include hazards and risks, the control of fire risk, principles and practice of fire safety management at work and the role of the nominated fire warden.

To complete this qualification, learners should expect to undertake 6 hours of guided learning.

This qualification is assessed by a 45 minute multiple-choice examination, where the learners must answer 12 out of 20 questions correctly to pass.

The total qualification time (TQT) for this qualification is 7 hours and of this 6 hours are recommended as guided learning hours.
