DVSA - Module 4-CPC Vehicle Banksman and Manual Handling course syllabus.

The first part of this course aims to ensure anyone who gives or receives signals to aid in the safe manoeuvring of vehicles fully understands industry-recognised and approved methods for doing so.

The second part of looks at aiming to reduce the overall number of accidents and injuries caused by improper manual handling each year, this course increases awareness around hazards and provides key information, advice and techniques for safe manual handing conduct.

Upon completion of the course, delegates will be able to:

Understand the role and responsibilities of a vehicle banksman.

Safely communicate using industry recognised signals.

Will be aware of, and understand, manual handling risk assessments that apply to their work and assess how to avoid hazardous manual handling techniques in the workplace.

Will be able to demonstrate and apply good manual handling technique in the workplace.

This periodic training is aimed at all existing bus, coach and lorry drivers, who have acquired a licence and have to undertake 35 hours of training every 5 years to ensure their Driver CPC is current and they hold a Drivers Qualification Card (DQC).

Safe positioning and communication methods.

Preparing for movement and safe limitations.

Accident statistics and reporting requirements.

Understanding manual handling and functions of the spine.

Manual handling and the law including risk assessment.

Correct manual handling techniques and equipment.

Practical session and recap.

When completing this module in conjunction with another half-day session, delegates will receive a certificate of attendance and have seven hours Periodic CPC training uploaded on the DVSA Recording and Evidencing database.

There is no pass/fail element to this course.
