CITB - CSCS - Touch Screen Test
This test is for the Labourers GREEN card and it is strongly recommended that you sit the CITB - Health and Safety Awareness course before attempting this test.

The aim of the test is to examine knowledge across a wide range of topics to improve safety and productivity on site. It is usually taken as a PC-based touch screen test.

How is it assessed?

The HS&E test is made up of 50 questions covering five core knowledge areas:

  • legal and management
  • health and welfare
  • general safety
  • high risk activities
  • environment

Candidates have 45 minutes to answer the 50 questions. The test now includes new question styles. Behavioural case studies are also used in the test to check a candidate's understanding of health, safety and environmental issues, and how to behave safely on-site.

CITB - Health and Safety Awareness

The CITB Health and Safety Awareness course introductory course is for people who are new to the construction and civil engineering industries. It is the first step towards obtaining a CSCS Green Card alongside the CITB Operatives touchscreen test.

It teaches you the main health and safety issues on construction sites and how these affect your role.

It is also recommended as a Health and Safety refresher of knowledge after five years.

CITB-Green-Labourer-Card

It is recommended that you sit this course BEFORE attempting the Touch Screen Test

The CITB Health and Safety Awareness course highlights potential hazards when working on site and provides practical advice on keeping yourself and your colleagues safe. It covers your individual and employers responsibilities, including what you can do if you think anyones health and safety is being put at risk.

This course provides health and safety awareness and is endorsed by Build UK as standard training for all operatives on site.

How is it assessed?
  • Multiple-choice test.
  • You need to attend all 7.5 hours to qualify for the Site Safety Plus Certificate
Lantra - Health Safety and Environmental Awareness - Construction
This course is for you if you are currently working - or will be working - within the construction industry.

This training course has been developed to help you understand how to work on a construction site safely and confidently.

The amount of instruction you will require will depend largely upon your previous experience and sessions will be adapted to meet your needs. Course duration will depend on experience and will be from one to four days.

Course sessions include:

  • Law, Regulation and the Health and Safety Executive
  • Risks, Prevention and Control
  • Accidents, Ill-Health and Near Misses - Cause and Consequence
  • Welfare and First Aid
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Manual Handling Operations
  • Signage
  • Fire
  • Electricity
  • Provision and Use of Work Equipment
  • Working in Specific/Specialised Working Environments
  • Environmental Awareness
  • Theory Assessment.

If successful in meeting the required standards assessed, you will be awarded a certificate of competence and a Lantra skills ID card.

You can then progress onto the Lantra Awards Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment regulated qualification.

How is it assessed? The training course will consist of theory and practical sessions.
NPORS - Construction Safety Awareness Course

This course highlights potential hazards when working on site and provides practical advice on keeping yourself and your colleagues safe. It covers your individual and employer’s responsibilities, including what you can do if you think anyone’s health and safety is being put at risk.

This course provides health and safety awareness and is endorsed by Build UK as standard training for all operatives on site.

The S001 – Construction Safety Awareness Course has been mapped as a full equivalent to the QCF Level 1 Award Health and Safety in a Construction Environment. This means that in addition to plant operators undertaking this course, labourers who have achieved the NPORS Site Safety Awareness Course can apply for the CSCS green Labourers Card once they have also passed the CITB Health, Safety and Environment Operatives Test.

How is it assessed?
Qualsafe - QA Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment

This qualification is ideal for those who work in, or aspire to work in, a construction environment. It has been specifically designed to provide a route towards applying for the Green Labourer CSCS Card.

Supported by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB), the QA Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification designed to provide Learners with a basic awareness of health and safety within a construction environment.

During this course, Learners will develop an understanding of health and safety in the context of construction, so that they can work safely in this environment. Topics covered include: the risks of working in a construction environment, principles of risk assessments for improving health and safety at work, the importance of working safely at height and much more.
