The QNUK Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF) qualification provides the knowledge and skills for first aiders working in early years environments.
Learners will gain the knowledge, skills and understanding of emergency paediatric first aid as outlined by the Department of Education, September 2016.
This is a qualification that indicate an individual can undertake a specific role in the workplace and that may be relied upon by employers.

The QNUK Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF) is aimed at those working in an early years setting who require a first aid qualification for emergency paediatric first aid.
The QNUK Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First aid (RQF) meets the requirements for those working in an early years setting, however, the setting should ensure that they also have suitable numbers of staff with a ‘2 day’ qualification such as the QNUK Level 3 Award in Paediatric First aid (RQF)

Define an infant and a child for the purposes of first aid treatment
Be able to assess an emergency situation safely
Conduct a scene survey
Conduct a primary survey on an infant and a child
Identify when to call for help
Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who is unresponsive and breathing normally
Place an infant and a child in the recovery position
Continually monitor an infant and a child whilst they are in the recovery position
Assist an infant and a child who is experiencing a seizure
Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who is unresponsive and not breathing normally
Identify when to administer Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation(CPR) to an unresponsive infant and an unresponsive child who is not breathing normally
Administer CPR using an infant and a child manikin
Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who is choking
Identify when choking is:

Explain the types and severity of bleeding in infants and children

Candidates are assessed for this qualification using the following methods:
Multiple-choice question paper
Practical observation
Multiple-Choice Question paper
Each candidate will be assessed for this qualification by the completion of a multiple-choice question paper.
Candidates will be required to score a minimum of 66% correct answers to achieve a pass.
Practical observation
Candidates are required to demonstrate capabilities as a first aider as they would in an emergency situation, therefore, candidates will need to be able to work on the floor; for example, as with CPR.
This qualification is available to those over 16 years. Candidates should be at least a level 1 numeracy and literacy or equivalent
