The Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment has been developed for delivery in a training environment and has been designed to:
- develop learners skills and knowledge at this level.
- prepare learners to take further qualifications to develop their skills, knowledge and understanding within their chosen craft.
- fulfill CSCS training requirements for the LabourerĀ“s card.
The NOCN Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment course certificate has 2 years validity.

There are no formal entry requirements to take this qualification. This qualification can be undertaken without any previous training or qualifications in this subject area.

Total Qualification Time (TQT) for this qualification: 30
An estimate of the total time it could reasonably be expected for a learner to achieve a qualification. TQT includes guided learning hours (GLH) plus an estimate of the time a learner is likely to spend in preparation, study or other learning activities as directed by but not under the immediate guidance of a lecturer, supervisor, or tutor.
Minimum Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for this qualification: 21
The time a learner spends in activities under the immediate guidance or supervision of a lecturer, supervisor, or tutor. This includes assessment if under supervision.
To achieve this qualification a minimum of 3 credits need to be attained. This comprises the 1 mandatory unit:

Learners will be required to complete an NOCN-Cskills Awards end of unit knowledge test, accessed via the Test Platform. The centre will be required to demonstrate how each Learning Outcome and Assessment Criteria has been met (formative assessment).
Knowledge test:
The knowledge assessment is designed to be taken on a computer using the NOCN-Cskills Awards online Test Platform, however, paper testing is also available in some circumstances. The test is externally set and marked and consists of multiple-choice questions covering the Learning Outcomes and associated Assessment Criteria for the unit.
