A risk assessment of first aid needs will help you determine which course is required to give the best first aid cover for your employees.

Many private individuals also book on to this course as it is an excellent basic first aid course for the general public. It is a highly participative course with both tutorial and practical sessions.

This course does entail getting down onto the floor to do practical work

Upon completion of the course a certificate will be issued which is approved by the First Aid Industry Body which is valid for three years. HSE “STRONGLY RECOMMENDS” that an annual refresher training course is attended every year!

The FAIB Emergency First Aid at Work course certificate has 3 years validity.

It is recommended that you check with your course tutor for information on FAIB - Emergency First Aid at Work refresher courses and their recommended frequency or the next step qualification.

This course is for people who are required to act as an Emergency First Aider at Work.

The course has been designed to equip the Emergency First Aider with the skills necessary to take charge and deal with an emergency effectively. The emphasis is placed on preventing situations from becoming worse and maintaining life until help arrives.

The following subjects will be covered on the course:-

Acting safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency

Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

Treating an unconscious casualty (including seizure)

Choking

Wounds and bleeding

Shock

Minor injuries

Preventing cross infection, recording incidents and actions and the use of available equipment

Introduction to a defibrillator

Continuous assessment by course trainer
