This intensive 5 day Level 2 Award Fibre Optic Cabling in an Internal and External Environment ( 3667-02: 102/103) training course provides delegates with both the practical skills and the underpinning knowledge, needed to work with fibre optic cabling safely. Included on the courses are details on basic installation practices, fibre optic connectorisation, splicing fibre optic cables, external enclosures, the practical skills required to terminate and test fibre optic cabling.
This course also focuses on the components, equipment and working practices that are typically used for both premises cabling systems and for fibre optic cabling installed in an external telco environment.
The course is ideally suited for data comms cabling installers and network cabling technicians who have some previous experience in installing data cabling, but are wishing to seek new skills and opportunities or are possibly required, as part of an expanding role, to possess a nationally recognised qualification.
City & Guilds 3667-02:102/103 demonstrates, that delegates that they have been thoroughly assessed and can confidently install, terminate and test fibre optic cabling, both for premises fibre networks and external telco networks.
Theory of Light

For the external fibre optic cabling installation simulated exercise, delegates are trained and are also assessed in the following areas:
Carry out fibre optic cable dressing into a closure procedure
Test fibre optic installation using the OTDR
Interpret OTDR test results and complete client documentation
All candidates are assessed via 2 separate examinations, which comprises of 50 multiple choice questions. City and Guilds 3667-02:102/103 is a closed book examination and is carried out using the computer based City and Guilds Gola system.
There is also a series of timed practical assessments.
All candidates are given their results at the end of the examination.
