What is the NEBOSH - International Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management course?

The NEBOSH International Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management (IFC) consists of three units - IGC1, IFC1 and FC2.

Exemptions available for Unit IGC1 from:

  • International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety - mark achieved for Unit IGC1
  • International Certificate in Construction Health and Safety - mark achieved for Unit IGC1
  • International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety - 45%

Exemptions available for Unit FC2 from:

Who is the NEBOSH - International Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management course designed for?

The NEBOSH International Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management is for people throughout the world with fire safety responsibilities at work, particularly those tasked with carrying our fire risk assessments and preventing loss of life and property.

Crucially, the practical element of the course also ensures that participants can carry out, unaided, a fire risk assessment and prepare a recommendations report for management.

How is the NEBOSH - International Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management course assessed?

Units IGC1IFC2 are taught units each assessed by one two-hour written examination.

Each written examination consists of ten short-answer questions and one long-answer question.

All questions are compulsory.

Candidate scripts are marked by external examiners appointed by NEBOSH.

Unit FC2 is assessed by one two-hour practical examination carried out in the candidate's own workplace.

The assessment must normally be taken within 14 days of a written examination.

The practical examination is internally assessed by the course provider and externally moderated by NEBOSH.
