The aim of the CCNSG Safety Passport Scheme is to ensure a basic knowledge of health and safety for all site personnel to enable them, after appropriate site induction, to work on site safely, with lower risk to themselves and others.

The safety passport scheme is guided by the Client/Contractor National Safety Group (CCNSG), a national steering group for the scheme. It is a formal sub-committee of the ECITB reporting to the ECITB through the ECITB Management Board.

The ECITB has operational responsibility for the formal management of the Safety Passport scheme whilst the committee’s focus is related to theongoing determination of the scheme’s content, standards for approval of Training Providers, future development of the scheme and integrity assurance.

The CCNSG Safety Passport expires after three years from the date of the National or Renewal course. You may come back for a one day Renewal course up to three months after the Safety Passport card has expired. Once the three months have lapsed, you will be required to sit the two day National course again

The CCNSG Renewal Course is designed as a one day refresher course for those who have already passed the CCNSG National Course. This has to be taken within three months of the Safety passport expiry date. If it is not taken within the specified time then the two day CCNSG National Course will have to be retaken.

The CCNSG Renewal Course covers the following objectives:

  •  The Impact of an Accident
  • The Importance of Safe Behaviour
  • Legal Framework
  • POWRA
  • PTW
  • Good Practice

To renew the CCNSG National Course award for the CCNSG Safety Passport, candidates are required to successfully complete a multiple-choice test paper at the end of the course
